The dialogue frames go Left-to-Right & Top-to-Bottom. But just to make things needlessly confusing, the background action goes Down-to-Up. The author must have been inebriated while laying out this page.

My theory is that it’s a very stylized Cthulhu statue thingy… Either that or a vending machine.

Actually, I’d like a nice window. To have look at the sk—um——cavern ceiling. I’ve always enjoyed cavern ceilings. No pesky clouds, no stars no, oh, you’re leaving? O.K.

I love cave/cavern tours. It’s literally my favorite thing to do when I travel. I’m part troglodyte.

It was really the 2d isometric perspective you see in retro dungeon-crawl video games… like… Diablo.
Ah, that would explain this odd page layout. I like the cut-a-way view, but the panel sequence is a little hard to get at first.
