I have a prediction: Philo is saved by… umm. I forget her name… La Silphide? Anyhow, she saves him, and finds the idea of an intellectual Male (rather than the boorish ones she’s used to) to be utterly fascinating, providing the author with a nice, fun love triangle, in which two corners of said triangle actually don’t want to be together, but Alice wants Philo’s money, and Philo is too honorable to break it off.
Oh, and now, finally, Charlie will have someone to have fun with.
