No one has fixed the issue that little toad did to the machine, so even if they took it, they wouldn’t get far. And that backstabbing dirt-grubber is planning on killing the ONLY person that could figure it out and fix it!
I think the banner at the top of the page suggests what will happen, I doubt any of our hero’s are getting back to the surface anytime soon.
I’m not well liked by many comic devs out there because I’m very good at figuring out plot points from the clues, only one dev “likes it” because it puts pressure on him to be more secretive in his writing! lol. I’m getting old however, so I re-read many of the comics I follow just to keep up.
I think a number of you are missing the point shown in the story, (and the one made by the Author above)… The Over-Inflated Coal Carrier *does not* wish to return to the surface, nor does he wish anyone else to.
Why? Because “It’s Good to be the King.” Down here he is Top Dog, and he does not want to take a chance on anyone ruining it. Incidentally, that’s the OTHER reason he wants to put a bullet in Philo’s brain.
The only good thing is, he’s concocted such an… uh… *unsophisticated* plan that Charlie, Godfrey, and any passing Pterosaur will see right through it.
I should add that it was stated that most of the engeneers that were in the commanders group were killed when the tunnel was flooded, so he only has the “B grade” men to figure out how to repair and work on the drill. It could take decades for them to fully understand that machine, much less fix it.
OK, he’s more evil than I thought. I figured he was just gonna leave hem abandoned in the caves while he and his escaped on the drill.
He could still escape using the driller… if he had any inclination to do so.
Takes one to know one, you over-inflated coal carrier. If you were such a great engineer, you would have brought Napoleon the victory he sought.
“Over-inflated coal carrier”! Nice 😉
Oh, yeah, death to all aristocrats! That’s more important than hats.
Now THAT makes more sense than the hat thing. This sounds like it’s going to be interesting.
whoa, the comic’s taking a dark turn all of a sudden
MULTI NOTES FROM AUTHOR:
-Dark turns happen.
-Death to Aristo-Hats!
-Don’t count on things happening just because a character says so.

Which will suit little Charlotte just fine! Sorry, “Charlie”.
MULTI NOTES FROM AUTHOR (PART 2):
-Yes, definitely check out the banner at the top of the webpage!
-Charlie may be the only character on board with this “adventure”.
-Chapter 6 will address at least one of Scardale’s points.

He’s an engineer, not a spy.
But yeah, you’re right. He’s comfy.
Thorin knows all.
He’s just wanting Charlie to be his new “bride” and knows that none of the guys will permit it.
Or he wants to finish what he convinced Neapolitan he could do, or a bit of both!
All of the above? I’m game.

*engineers
need coffee….
Why would he want to fix it? Wanting to fix it inplies he would want to use it, and we already know he doesn’t want to go back.
He’s got a lovely portrait being made.
