  1. D
    Dan says:

Pas de Calais is the French name for the Dover Strait, in case anyone else was confused…

  2. E
    Edward says:

Sounds more like Dire Straits to me.

    • T
      Thorin Schmidt says:

I thought the Dire Straits weren’t around before the 70s? Although, their Walk Of Life did turn ugly for these Brothers In Arms once they got Down To The Waterline. Maybe some additional Private Investigations on the part of the French would have been helpful, then Napoleon wouldn’t have spent all that Money For Nothing.

This whole comment thread feels like dire straits to The Author.

      Facepalm Award
And the award goes to the Team of Thorin Schmidt & Edward! Congratulations!

    Frank says:

Many years later, it renamed the River of Theodore after someone who was decidedly NOT Theodore Rooseveldt.

    Pilo’s . . . doing a lot of commenting there. I’m beginning to see Alice’s point.

Philo has a lot of things working against him: He’s a rich, clueless genius with no self-awareness and little empathy. In today’s world he’d be a Tech Billionaire.

        Frank says:

He’s also talking to someone with perhaps an overly-high opinion of himself.

Yeah. These two seem just-about as bad as each other. 🙂 Philo’s insistence on UNDER the ground is hilarious! I wonder why he might be doing it; national pride perhaps?
