This is the inaugural MONTHLY UPDATE!
Look for updates on the 1st of each month…
At least until Unearth gets enough support on PATREON to resume weekly updates
Hah! Funny thing, I’m up in Nebraska at my Dad’s for the 4th. Second one since Mom died, and Dad wants things gone gone gone. So, my sister is pulling out this old crusty forgotten box, and opens it… It’s our old Atari 2600 with all the hardware and games! Including my favorite!
Why am I bringing this up, you ask? Then you OBVIOUSLY haven’t done your part and voted on TWC yet! Go now!
I’m guessing your comment is an allusion to the little animation that USED TO appear after you Vote for UNEARTH on TopWebComics… Here’s the previous, Atari2600-related image:
I’m thinking your banner on TopWebComics could use the actual title of the comic in it somewhere… Most of the others on there seem to have the title in them. It would also help get the name in people’s minds 😉
(I know it’s in the actual text above the banner, but that’s surprisingly easy to miss)
As a counterpoint, I would say that, while scrolling quickly down through the TWC list, yours seems to stand out from the others simply by not being as “busy” as the rest, and anything that stands out or catches the eye has got to be good, I think. Must be doing something right: last I checked, Unearth was #20 on TWC. Not too bad for a webcomic that posts once monthly and just came off hiatus.
Now if only that voter enthusiasm could somehow be converted to revenue… 🙂
I just found out this was updating again, good to see you back! However, I have put this in my “rare updates” folder again since it updates less than a week, hope you don’t take it personally. But hey, at least I know when you update unlike my other rare updates.
I’ve heard there are some who check almost every day to see if there are new interesting comments. So I’ve heard. I don’t believe it though. That’s just crazy talk.
(Voting TWC, however is a different matter entirely: everybody should be doing that every day. Vote Early and Often! This Public Service Message brought to you by the Unearth Promotional Committee)
out of curiosity, does TWC tell you how many clickthroughs you get to actually view the webcomic per month? is it a non-negligible number?
(not that I would stop voting in any case. it’s a matter of principle!)
Actually, i check a lot for any comments. Not just interesting ones. Although most of them are interesting anyway. Apart from comments though, i mostly check in to see if anything has been spectacular enough (good or bad) to have earned an award.
Or to see if something inspires me enough to make an Award-worthy comment myself.
I’m still hoping to collect enough Facepalms to build my scale model of the Bastille…
Of course! I would certainly expect so: You obviously can’t get the same level of excellence from someone that cranks out 3 pages a week that you get when a single page has a full month’s worth of effort put into it! 😉
Besides, you can’t really compare the two – Girl Genius is an adventure/romance about a brilliant scientist/inventor which takes place in an alternate-history 19th century Europe featuring implausible science, giant mechanical devices, and fantastical monsters. So, as you can see, no comparison at all.
Now that’s strange…there was totally a August update here when I looked 10 minutes ago! With Philo falling into a pit! I even commented on it!! I think…didn’t I? Darn hallucinations….
Woohoo! Monthly Updates…CONFIRMED!
And even vote incentive bonus strips too! (I think…TWC new bonus strips don’t show up ’til 3AM EST so it’s not there yet)
“The Beast clearly prefers The Chase to an easy meal” – Reminds me of someone else in this strip. Although I think Alice already sees him as prey.
Yes, but which of the two is the more-dangerous predator?
If the dinosaur catches him, at least it will be over quickly. If he is “caught” by Alice, he has years and years of torment and abuse ahead of him.

That’s odd. That’s the one that showed up when i voted earlier. I guess I’ll have to try again tomorrow…..
Been a while since I’ve read this comic. Glad it’s still good.
Thanks for coming back! The more the merrier 🙂
It’s a shame Alice isn’t around to see this. She might view Philo more favorably if she knew he heroically risked his life to protect her sister.
Ehhh… I’m not sure Alice’s mind works like that.
She would probably be upset with Philo for thinking that her sister needed rescuing in the first place, and by him in the second place.
If it comes to a fight between Ms Alice and the lizard, I think I will decline to bet on the outcome.
Wise move.

That’s a good suggestion… maybe for next month’s update 🙂

Please tell me Philo is biting it in the fourth frame, because that would be outstanding. Glad to see another update! Now off to TWC…
Sure. If you want him to masticate the monster, that’s fine by me.

Hi Alphaghoul. Glad you checked in!
And I still go this website every Monday like clockwork. Old habits …
I do to, which makes no sense at all 😉
I’ve heard there are some who check almost every day to see if there are new interesting comments. So I’ve heard. I don’t believe it though. That’s just crazy talk.
Is it?
It must be. Nobody would do that! Would they?

… in commemoration of your dedication to TWC voting!
Sweet! Those two dozen extra computers and dedicated internet connections I purchased just for TWC voting have finally paid off!

Google Analytics knows ALL… Literally.
Unearth website traffic from TWC has increased 10-fold this month and most of those are “New Visitors”.
So, yes, voting helps! Thanks!

Just placed my semi-daily vote on TWC…
Holy Guacamole! Unearth is beating Girl Genius!

Rationalization. Whoo!
Besides, you can’t really compare the two – Girl Genius is an adventure/romance about a brilliant scientist/inventor which takes place in an alternate-history 19th century Europe featuring implausible science, giant mechanical devices, and fantastical monsters. You saw it, but it was an f-up. My server reset the time to UTC-0, which I just reset to my time zone.
So, not a hallucination (this time), that’s reassuring.
Now I just have to avoid causing any time paradoxes with my secret knowledge of THE FUTURE!
