I think Roddy has a twinge of genuine sympathy for Mrs Wollstone if for nothing else than he had sincerely been looking forward to marrying one of her daughters. Failing to stop at least one of them from getting onboard the drill has been pecking at his tiny pebble of a conscience, and he may be wanting to try to cheer her up somehow, but I doubt he has any idea as to how.
It’s a highly conditional conscience based on what a beautiful woman can do for him as a man and as a Duke, of course. Just enough to sincerely regret losing both of them. Kind of like losing a bag of gold farthings he was saving for a special gambling occasion.
Where ARE the mysterious Mrs. Wollstone and Baddy Roddy?
Noce work by the way. I like the use of the parson to let us know what’s going on.

That’s very generous of you to project a conscience onto Roddy. You’re a goodhearted person. Good luck with that 😉

You’ll receive the answers to these important questions in a matter of… pages?
Yeah, if I were him I’d be VERY worried about what Roderick is up to right now.
You’d think His Lordship could afford to have a security detail handcuffed to Roddy 24/7.
I think that would be considered cruel and unusual punishment. For the security detail, that is.
