He actually went Super Saiyan in the brief moment between the panels, for the speed boost to snatch the gun from his assailant’s hand, but dismissed it when he saw La Silphide drop-kick him. The sudden burst of ki sent his glasses flying off, hence their disappearance.
Good catch! Dammit! If you hadn’t noted that, I would have just pretended it didn’t happen. That’s not an insta-fix like text, so look for a fix in the future sometime-or-other.
They fell to the ground, obviously. As glass wearer (and somwhat prone to brawling) I know it always happens in fights and that you better get them off and hide them in a pocket if you want to survive the ensuing disorientation.
You need to correct nothing, just make them accidentally smashed in the fight and the poor guy going semi-blind for the rest of the adventure.
I suppose not. I was speaking more to his instant leap into action and grabbing the gun by the barrel. I’m betting that wasn’t exactly a reaction to the drop-kick. It seems more like they both acted simultaneously. Which speaks to Philo instantly conceiving a plan and acting on it.
How did the pistol become uncocked? Either it should still be cocked (it’s not as drawn), it should have fired (no indication), or it failed to fire when the trigger was pulled (possible, but unlikely).
Good timing, m’lady! Also, where did Philo’s glasses go in the second panel?

Finally FIXED thanks to Scorpinac!
So, Philo *can* keep his wits about him in a crisis. Good show all around!
Philo doesn’t generally loose his wits, does he? I need page citations!

I like that explanation. Or maybe he was just groping around for his glasses that have evidently fallen off… and caught the gun by mistake.
Frog Stomping is the latest craze…
Poor frog… though he did have it coming, didn’t he?
He WAS rather close. Philo’s marginally useful in a crisis after all. Cool.
He’ll take “marginally useful”. I mean, it’s not like he’s the impetus for the entire story or anything 😉
He’s more useful in other contexts I’m sure. He’s a good engineer and I’m sure he’s a dab hand at a gig.
Actually, it might be a good thing Philo’s glasses are* missing. Otherwise he might have been distracted by that view he’s getting.
ooh-la-La Silphide!
Shame on you, Thorin 😉

If I were an assuming man, and the stakes are pretty low, I’d bet that they haven’t been keeping the stuff in very good order.
