Google reveals that Cornus is the genus of the dogwood tree.
Speaking of bark, a knowledgeable botanist might be able to use that to identify the trees from just their stumps (assuming they’re not of an unknown species).
Also, the presence of trees raises a question I hadn’t thought to ask before now: where is the light coming from?
Worry not, Ma’cherie, they only eat kites. Just ask monsieur Brown.
Scorpinac has evidently noticed that Geek Fortress is in no small part inspired by Peanuts. Whether that applies to Unearth is open to interpretation.
Yeah, you go first.
Don’t mind if I do!
Hey, you draw the trees! No fair! 😉
A tree that bites seems truly fearsome — after all we all know that “the bark is worse than the bite”.

Radioactive light-emitting rock strata would do the trick, I’d imagine, if scientific mumbo-jumbo was a Thing in Unearth.
What I meant was, where do the characters *perceive* the light to be coming from? If they’ve said anything about it in a past strip, I don’t remember.
Top-down light is how I generally shade the characters. So… The Rock Sky?
