    My first thought was that these ‘poachers’ must be good guys if they are speaking English. Then I thought back to the very start of the story and who this queen might be, and now I’m not so sure.

    “Queen”? Princess Victoria was younger than Charlie at this time. Her father, (who was functionally more of a professional +Size Supermodel than a proper King since decades before his late eldest brother’s daughter died in childbirth due to quack prenatal care), was the official Ruler of the Realm at the time.
    So they should speak of the King.
