Kids of any era are adorable, don’t you think? Roddy may not actually be breaking the gauge, but tinkering with it instead. I’m sure his intentions are good 😉
Nice as in nice as hell? Both youngsters together are a fitting surrogate for a plague!
By the way: Fantastic drawing, as usual, but wrong kind of saw – big saw teeth are for wood! Iron saws have very small but many teeth.
It is really hard work to get through a thick pipe by hand, but our Roddy is a determined one, as we know!
Maybe it is plastic pipe then it would work well enough i the walls are slightly thicker than the the separation of the teeth. Actually it isn’t the separation of the teeth that counts as much as the angle of attack and the hardness. Thicker materials require a wider separation. Pipe generally has thinner material when the saw reaches the point that it is cutting only the walls and is why a Hacksaw used by hand has such narrow teeth.
Looks like we may end up with Roddy to thank for the trip extending as far as it does. With his modifications, who knows, this thing could make it all the way to the center of the Earth!
I know all because I can unerringly predict the future…
Like a wizard…
A future wizard…
A future wizard that can predict the future…
So say all these impending future worthless future lottery tickets…
…From the future!
I know it is absolutelly wrong. But I can’t wait for this kid to die with no one mourning him. He is a complete sociopath. I fear the monstrosities he would do upon reaching adulthood.
Well, It’s not ” Try to imagine all life as you know it stopping instantaneously and every molecule in your body exploding at the speed of light.” bad, but it’s still pretty bad
I’m positive Charlie will ensure that happens! Maybe she’ll even *close the hatch* before all the dirt comes roaring in… or maybe that’ll just add to the fun? I dunno, hard to tell with this story. Personally, I think Van Dinter just listens to all the ridiculous things we say, picks the one that makes him laugh the most, then alters it enough so that we don’t notice….
The gauge, Roddy? If you’re going to break random things for greater effect don’t break the one people might actually look at.
Kids these (those?) days.
Hi Dogma! Happy to have you aboard 🙂

The idea that those saw teeth could cut that pipe is admittedly a stretch, but not half-as-implausible as what I have in mind for the lavatory.
I don’t know, that saw may have a better chance than those bypass pruners 😉
By the way, I really like the pipes as panel borders, nice touch!
The ‘pruners’ are serviceable if you don’t think of everything as being made of iron.
P.S. I’m glad you like the borders. Thanks for saying so.

Roderick: “Ah-ha! With this rampant destruction my brother will surely rue the day!”
(elsewhere)
Philo: “That’s odd… The efficiency of the engine just increased 13%.”
Congrats, Pedaybee! Your comment is practically a spoiler. How did you know?

Naw, who am I kidding?
I know all because I can unerringly predict the future…

…From the future!
As logic stands, you couldn’t meet a man
From the Future…
But logic broke, as he appeared he spoke
About the Future…
Either that or Roddies going to embed himself in a wall from thirty feet away. Lol, maybe both. :p
I know it is absolutelly wrong. But I can’t wait for this kid to die with no one mourning him. He is a complete sociopath. I fear the monstrosities he would do upon reaching adulthood.
Hi DLB! Thanks for contributing 🙂
And don’t worry. Your response to Roddy’s wrongness is perfectly right, though I can’t promise he’ll die the death he deserves.
Dammit Roddy! All those pipes were important! How is the coffee machine going to work without them?!?!?!
Sorry, did you say ‘coffee’? Not bloody likely. 😉
Yeah, but, “Mr. Tea” just doesn’t ring right
The Toolbox contents so far:
1 Carpenter’s hatchet
2 Pipe wrench
3 Drill
4 Screwdriver
5 Genuine “Bunsen Honeydew’s Amazing Cutsall Saw”
6 Pruning shear
7 Awl
8 “Lil Devil” hammer
So, I accuse… Roddy, in the engine room, with… Everything!
Colonel Mustard in the Conservatory with the lead pipe.
Aw c’mon man, I know your mischievious but isn’t this taking things to far? I mean some people could die.
And that would be bad?
Well, It’s not ” Try to imagine all life as you know it stopping instantaneously and every molecule in your body exploding at the speed of light.” bad, but it’s still pretty bad
If you listen closely, you can hear him laughing maniacally.
Or at least chuckling sinisterly….. maybe both, considering it’s dear sweet Roderick…
That is indeed a look of pure miscreant joy on his face.
I sure hope he has an escape plan
What? Don’t you want to see Roddy crash and burn in the midst of his own disaster?
I’m positive Charlie will ensure that happens! Maybe she’ll even *close the hatch* before all the dirt comes roaring in… or maybe that’ll just add to the fun? I dunno, hard to tell with this story. Personally, I think Van Dinter just listens to all the ridiculous things we say, picks the one that makes him laugh the most, then alters it enough so that we don’t notice….
Yep dirt roaring in, this isn’t actually an adventure story, it’s the origin story of the mole people
Wow, if that business about changing the story to reflect the comment comedy were true, I’d be quite impressed with myself. Sigh.
That’s okay, I’m impressed enough for both of us.
Aaaw – baby’s first mass murder attempt! Shame there’s no one to make a daguerreotype of this important moment in a boy’s life.
I should have thought of that 😉
