  1. Scrutinizer says:

You know, I don’t know how I never caught that they were on a sail ship, getting dragged into the earth by a giant cephalopod. I always pictured them in a large drill for some reason.

  2. Custom avatarIkwig says:

I’m afraid that it should be either “have A crewman” or “have crewmEn check.” Other than that, I see nothing wrong with his plan: taking tea fixes practically everything, most of the time!

  3. Uhl says:

Godfrey is near unflappable. That’s a talent you WANT to cultivate.

    • mvandinter says:

Can you really cultivate a LACK of something? Now if he was flappable, I guess you could cultivate that.

  4. Harrow says:

@Ikwig: Perhaps he is referring to the chief engineer of the vessel, Arthur Crewman.

  5. Dreadogastus says:

Ahhh. My Monday Only folder of webcomics. After all the sweet flavors, strange spices and lurid icings pf other i’net serials, brings the refined manners and deliciously dry taste of Unearth. Thank you M. van Dinter.

    • mvandinter says:

You make Unearth sound like a cabernet sauvignon, and here I was thinking of it as a tepid cup of tea.

  6. Luces says:

never saw outstanding explorers so resolute looking backwards!
And of course, thanks from me too.

  7. Thorin Schmidt says:

Hmm…. well, it seems I got the Tea part right, at least. Now, how did godfrey get from the Flywheel to the top of the ship so quickly?

Actually, I have a theory. Roddy’s “help” inadvertently created a steam-powered Improbability Drive, causing the ship to undergo improbable reconfigurations ever few minutes.

    • Luces says:

Which causes the tea to turn into whales singing depressing tunes,
while somewhere lurches a mechanical help called Marvin?
      You’re so right about “unearthing”!

      • Thorin Schmidt says:

Exactly! Although this is probably just a Finite Improbability Drive, twisted though he is, I don’t think Roddy up to the challenge to create the Infinite version. although they DO happen to have a lot of tea…..

        • mvandinter says:

Heck, the author isn’t up to the challenge of writing a story that includes an improbability drive… finite or otherwise.

  8. Alphaghoul says:

Well this is obviosly going to be a problem, seeing as the crew was disloyal enough to well you know, I won’t go into detail because it would take up to much space. On another note I like how your showing them standing on a miniturized version of the ship and an old fashioned wood on water ship (is that called a literary device?) Also and lastly what days does this comic update? Because I currently have it in my “rare updates” folder, but it’s at the top because it updates the most.

    • mvandinter says:

Unearth updates on Mondays, and has for a long time. I got rid of the notification saying as much because I’m always expecting to fall hopelessly behind.

      • Alphaghoul says:

Okay thanks, I only put comics that update less than a week in that folder but I’ll move it now.

        • Thorin Schmidt says:

Which of course, now means that the fickle gods of webcomics will now think it hilariously funny to send our poor author into a horrendous cacophany of contrived mischievous, maniacal, mystic mayhem, thus causing our beloved webcomic, heretofore ignored by the aforementioned deities, to fall into a horrible abyss of missed updates, exploded dreams, and unfulfilled promises…. Thanks, Alphaghoul :/

          • Thorin Schmidt says:

Also, now if you DO happen to miss an update, now you can blame it all on Alphaghoul, instead of taking responsibility for it yourself. 🙂

  9. Aslandus says:

As everyone knows, the chance that it might be a false alarm means there is absolutely no reason to worry about it, despite the fact that it could easily mean the death of you and all those around you…
