Ah, I suspect I know where this is going. He is going to talk about SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER, isn’t he?

I’m sure you’re right, Stig Hemmer, though I might be totally wrong about that 😉

Careful general, all Monsieur Napoleon has to do is add the ignition powder to the pan and he is ready to fire! I love this art work.

I can’t guarantee the next page will include the ignition-powder+pan step. We’ll have to imagine it takes place off-camera 😉

Well, many military flashholes were generous enough that some powder from the charge could spill out into the pan. If the frizzen were down, the gun would then be both charged and primed. All one would need to do then is to set the cock and press the trigger.
Some veteran soldiers developed a skill at holding musketballs in their mouths, pouring a charge of powder down the muzzle, then spitting a ball down the barrel. With the lock at half cock and the frizzen down, the butt was them struck against the ground, setting the ball and forcing some powder out the fire hole.
Such practices are considered too dangerous among muzzleloading enthusiasts today.

Amphibious assault? A bridge made of ships? Plans for a better mousetrap? This ought to be good. 🙂
