I bet there is no top of the ladder. It’s just never ending and all we’ll ever know from now on is these two climbing a ladder. I just hope you don’t run out of ladder jokes and puns.

  2. Stonefoot says:

I think Charlie made a very smart move by ditching her shoes. On the narrow rungs of that wooden ladder she’ll be much more sure-footed (and safer) without them. Also, something about Charlie (maybe the way she readily accepted being designated a menace?) tells me she would never even think of ditching her shoes (or bonnet)…. except whenever she could get away with it. As for Alice, for all her stern exterior she may have a little (well-hidden) tomboy aspect. Climbing that ladder she’s showing quite a bit of leg for 1820 London, seemingly without being aware of it.

Second: I know this is terrible, but I can’t resist using the ladder (I mean ‘latter’) part of my post to make a latter (oops! I mean ‘ladder’) pun.

One more (with apology in advance): It’s not a problem now since they’re going up the ladder, but how do you get down from a ladder?
Answer: You don’t get down from a ladder, you get down from a goose!

Is Alice a tomboy? I’ll say this: She has issues. Of course, neither one of these two sisters is a girly-girl.

  3. Aslandus says:

If she keeps losing clothing like that, her mother will be furious!

Menace & Malice; good name for a rock band. 🙂
