I find it intersting what the builders decided to replicate and what they didn’t.

After they get to know Alice, they may not want to give a lid for her.

    Is that a windmill?

    • mvandinter says:

What are the most-interesting things left out?

ANACHRONISM ALERT: Yes, that is a windmill. A red windmill.
Also known as a Moulin Rouge.

    • Lee M says:

      Le Moulin Rouge, peut-etre?

One also very much needs to consider just how long these particular Frenchmen have been underground. Presumably one doesn’t become a troll overnight?

      • mvandinter says:

Ooooo! That’s an interesting theory! How do you see that playing out?

        • J
          JJ says:

That IS a question. Napoleon and his minions stumbled upon this alternate universe in their tunneling – I’m saying you need at least 4 generations, so at least 110 years?

I’ve no doubt there’s somebody who knows? I’ve heard things about authorial intent but can’t say I believe it 😂

          • The Author says:

110 years is going to be hard to come up with… what with the story being set in the 1820s… only a few years after Napoleon’s death. Unless we’re operating in a Subterranean Time Bubble. Is that what’s going on here?

Time bubble caused by different type of lighting causing foreshortened lifespans could suffice. As usual Godfrey is the master of understatement, Paris is if nothing else absurd.

  2. Sturzkampf says:

Wonder what The French will give our Heroes to take Ms Alice away again?

    AHHHH! RODDY!

I’ve read 123 pages without leaving a comment here although I did on the last of your outtakes. I can be very witty but it’s spur-of-the-moment wit as a quick response. (At least others think me witty.) But to think of a witty comment to add is impossible for me – unlike many of the very funny and intelligent comments I’ve read of others’. So expect my comments to be few and far but I really NEEDED to comment here.

I absolutely love this story as it unfolds! It’s genius among webcomics!!! All the twists and turns and absurdities you’ve come up with leave me in awe. It helps that I’ll be reading this in a few sittings from beginning till your latest post so the continuity doesn’t get interrupted. But that in no way diminishes how good this is!

The funny thing is I noticed the small banner in Top Webcomics of Grogg puckering up for a kiss and Alice tossing away the pistol but foolishly disregarded checking it out. Yet I’m glad I did so since it gave me more at one time to read than otherwise. I voted at TWC yesterday and will now do so every day whether you post or not. Thank you for a hilarious and intelligent comic and for some pretty amazing art! And your ability to draw perspectives is waaaaay beyond my ability.
