    Scorpinac says:

Um, I’m pretty sure the last time we saw this group Charlotte had her shoes on. Did she ditch them again off screen, or panel, I guess?

Also, and I’m sure you get this a lot, but, is there any chance of this ever going back up to more then one update a month? Just curious.

    • mvandinter says:

GOOD CATCH! Scorpinac, you are very observant! Yes, the shoes go on-and-off. But, where are they when she’s not wearing them? Presumably Ogg The Trollboy has them hidden in his loincloth. Don’t fret, the shoes will be back!

    • mvandinter says:

Yes, I am sometimes asked about more frequent updates of Unearth. I wish I had the time to do a page-a-week, but I struggle to find time to do a page-a-month. If I reach My Patreon Goal of $500/month I’ve promised to do 2 pages a month. I don’t make Unearth for the money, but the money would make it possible to prioritize Unearth over other commitments (many of which didn’t exist when I started this thing an infinity ago).

    • All-Purpose Guru says:

Charlotte seems to ditch her shoes at the drop of a hat, er, bonnet.

      • mvandinter says:

If she had ditched the bonnet along with the shoes, Ogg would have saved that too.

        On a side note:
It seems like charlotte is wearing the shoes when wearing the cast iron saucepan on her head. It may be possible that Ogg keeps her shoes in his “hat”.

    Erik Van Thienen says:

It seems one gargoyle had a grow spurt …

    • mvandinter says:

I thought that too, and thought about having the characters make a joke about it, but I didn’t come up with a compelling punchline to have the characters deliver.

    Frank Harr says:

Wow. The expedition failed so badly, they had to recreate a section of Paris to make up for it.

    This is so much fun.

And they can have eggs! I like mine scrambled.

    • mvandinter says:

That’s bachelor talk! Eggs should be fried, over-medium, a bit unevenly so you get crispy bits, and using pterosaur eggs, of course.

  4. W
    Wyvern says:

So presumably the cookware was made locally. I wonder who the blacksmith is.

    • mvandinter says:

You can actually see one of the foundry’s chimneys behind the waterwheel. Why would would they need a foundry, you ask? Because cast iron cookware is Unearth’s currency, of course.

Good job on the Lock Ness Plesiosaur Matt. 😉👍

    • mvandinter says:

Thanks. I would have invented an all-new Unearth species of sea monster, but I like the idea of Nessie having living relatives.

    jsfury says:

Um, How does that water wheel work if there isn’t a water fall pushing it?

    • mvandinter says:

You got me there! I figured someone would comment on the not-very-functional waterwheel. While a flowing-stream type doesn’t require a waterfall, it does need cupped blades, which I didn’t bother to draw. This one’s also a bit too deep in the river.

        Frank Harr says:

That’s where the current in this river is strongest.

Did you know that They wanted to measure the flow of the Hudson River below the surface so they put the relevAnt equipment into a VW bug frame and bolted it to the rock on the side of the the river.

When they went to the reciever they found nothing. The river had torn to car and the instruments off of where they had been bolted.

I don’t know if this actually happened or not, but I like the ides that there are rivers where the fastest part of the current is not at the surface. I don’t know when or why this would happen, though.

    Godfrey’s just so—–reasonable. It’s great!

    Good ol’ reliable Godfish.

    Good one Frank. 😄😉

There’s a lot of good new promo art recently. How did we get so lucky?

By the way, for a few weeks I’ve been trying to comment on Geek Fortress comics and I get a message telling me:

If it’s something you’re aware of, that’s fine. If not, you need to be aware of it.

    • mvandinter says:

      Hi Frank,
Sorry about the comment blocking on Geek Fortress. I think I fixed it, but please try again and let me know here if it blocks you again. It had nothing to do with your liberal use of FOWL language 😉

        Frank Harr says:

You mean, I can say, Eagle, Swallow, Pelican and and@%^@%mouse?

        YAY!

Wait, what about !#^%#$willow? Come on! That’s from a Gilbert and Sullivan song, that is!

Ugh! [The obvious punchline is obvious. But I don’t have what it takes to deliver it. Howsewren.]

    BDLC says:

Is that a petrified Nessie they are standing on?

    • mvandinter says:

BDLC, Maybe. I think we need to get a paleontologist over here to verify the species of make-believe cartoon monster bones. I usually check with experts to make sure Unearth is scientifically accurate. (Cough cough)
