Okay, that settles it. The reptiles are carnivora. Well I guess that is to be expected. Sad to see some of our more important players are gone, but we press on. Maybe Alice will get away and find the others. Afraid we have a long wait though.

So all the infielders and outfielders have bats? Is this a variation on the theme of Calvinball?

Well, it’s not like they were expecting company. Who would? I’m slightly amazed they had any ordinance or firearms. I would not have expected many veterans in the crew either.

But that’s just me. This is after the Napoleanic Wars but I don’t know what the density of veterans was. And maybe the lizard-people are just that good.

She knows about Medusa. Clearly she’s well-educated.

I’m not sure why toy soldiers would be considered an anachronism; Wikipedia says that they were being mass-produced in Germany as early as 1775 (though I’m sure they didn’t include lizardmen among their number).

Also, I’m confused by the mother and child costumes. Are they meant to depict something that he’s imagining — or is it something that *she’s* imagining? And why is she holding a great big knife?

    • Matt Van Dinter (Author Commenting Remotely) says:

The mother and child costumes are party to illustrate their actual relation to one another (And something vague about Dult’s character being on par with a little boy playing with toy soldiers). As for the knife… It suits Her Highness’s character, don’t you think?

I don’t know why it took me so long to think of this answer to his question:

To the French they are. But that’s not working out for them.
