YESSS !! Let us see what the strange new land looks like. Steaming swamps. Cities of barbaric splendor. Giant lizard creatures unknown to civilized man. Perhaps, even, a coffee shop.

With a mermaid logo and really, really overpriced water?

        Number 6 says:

Nah, too unrealistic. I’ll believe in giant steampunk drilling machines and lizard people, but I can’t believe that anyone would pay 5 bucks for a 50-cent cup with a mermaid logo on it.

      Luces says:

If you would call it coffee; a greenish – light brown, oily fluid, drawn out of the dark deep, served by charming 3-meter maids with too many teeth in their long snout, a broad, strong tail and sharp, pointy claws.

  2. B
    Brian says:

Outside is the most terrifying thing in the universe: Roddy.

    • mvandinter says:

So, Philo is taking notes and drawing sketches of… Roddy? Intriguing.

      • N
        Number 6 says:

He’s drawing Roddy with a noose around his neck, Roddy with daggers through his heart, Roddy in a Guillotine, Roddy sitting on a lit keg of gunpowder, etc.

    • I
      Ikwig says:

It can’t be Roddy – Charlie looks entirely too pleased for it to be Roddy. Perhaps it’s one of the slightly less terrifying things in the universe.

    Yakumo says:

You’re dragging out the reveal. What is there to drag out the reveal for?

  4. N
    Number 6 says:

I think he’s just trolling her – it’s nothing but rocks. (Last panel: turns out she really likes rocks a lot)

    wintermute says:

    This is torture!

    Well played.

Also, of course she’s hopeful. What kid doesn’t want to see something cool and scary? A scaredy cat, that’s who.

  6. Y
    Yakumo says:

We should all now realize that this delayed reveal of what’s outside is just an illustration of the age old moral.

    It’s what’s INSIDE that counts. :/

We get Unearth-dollars or points or something for finding errors, right?
You have the current page listed in the Archive under the Prologue rather than under Chaper Two. I guess that’s probably only worth an Unearth cent or two.

    • mvandinter says:

Wow. You are correct. The Archive is out of sync, and has to be manually fixed. It’s an update error that has occurred every single week for 2 years now, and you’re the first person to notice (other than me). Does Paypal allow payments of 2cents?

        Number 6 says:

I think I’ve noticed it before, but didn’t think it important, and it still isn’t of course, but I was bored and so decided to be even more of a nuisance than usual.

According to the internet, yes, it allows it, but it will cost a 30 cent fee to recieve the payment. I probably actually deserve to lose 28 cents for pointing it out. 🙂

        Thomas says:

Suggestion: If you ever decide to reorder the archive, you might want to put the regular pages (excluding specials) either in order from oldest to newest or newest to oldest.

Right now, chapter 2 is in-between the prologue and chapter 1.

Since chapters internally go from newest to oldest, putting chapter 2 above chapter 1 would keep the latest pages near the top, and would not require any reordering within the chapters or prologue.

(Alternately, if you went from oldest to newest, then the latest page would always belong appended to the bottom of the list. But that would require a lot of reordering.)

        • N
          Number 6 says:

No, no – all the pages featuring Alice should be ordered first, as she will tell you she is most important. The pages featuring Philo should be at the opposite end of the list as far away as possible from Alice’s. Pages featuring Godfrey should be next to Philo’s, as is his proper place as a butler. Pages featuring Roddy will want to be next to the ones featuring Alice. Pages featuring Charlie wil be scattered at random throughout, as there is no tying that girl down to just one place.
This is really the only possible logical ordering scheme.
