Now its time for young master Roderick to show his talents: Get inside somehow, Roddy. Fast. Don’t let the adventure of a lifetime glide past you just because you tweaked a few settings to much!

    • mvandinter says:

I think Roddy will come to accept his situation in life above-ground, and grow to embrace it. Then again, I kind like having him around making trouble.

  2. Thorin Schmidt says:

OMG. Can you publish the 2-pager without the boxes? I SO want that for my background! it’s LAUNCH TIME! Is it still considered a launch even though the ship is designed to go straight down?

  3. Aslandus says:

Quick Roddy, the chains are still attached, you can still climb on and join the merry voyage to the underworld!

    • mvandinter says:

Seems like your plan to have Roddy climb the twisting chains as the giant driller shutters, spins and spews flying debris would result in the boy arriving in the underworld in no time… the postmortem underworld, that is. Not that that’s a bad thing.

    Murphy says:

I know I’m nitpicking but I think the chains should have been pre-tensioned. One can only imagine the entertainment of the people in the body of the driller as it starts to spin and then is snubbed short by the tightening chains. Only to have their sudden movement arrested by the nearest bulkhead.
    Whee! YANK! Smack!

So, explosive bolts release the anchor chains after most of the body has entered the ground?

    • mvandinter says:

Explosive bolts sounds good. I’m not sure why I should want to spare the passengers from an extra bit of trauma by having the chains pre-tensioned, but the point is well taken 😉

    • Thorin Schmdit says:

yes, but pre-tensioning would have meant finding a different way to demolish the scaffold.

    • Thorin Schmdit says:

Besides, probably everybody but Philo was expecting it anyway, and likely took precautions.

      wintermute says:

What would really have been fun would have been if the sudden force applied by the already-spinning vehicle on the suddenly-taut chains had been great enough to pull the anchors free.

Now you have a giant spinning death machine with huge anchors at the ends of long chains flying around in a colossal circle merrily destroying anything in their path! Whee! Talk about entertainment!
