    Or up-the-giant-drill-access-panel moment

Why do I have visions of the drillers of the “Matrix” machines?

    • mvandinter says:

So, what you’re saying is that when the gang reaches the center of the earth they will arrive at the post-nuclear-holocaust city of Zion? I think I just died a little.

  3. Wisknort says:

… I am actually scared that that thing would start up before she got inside.

    • mvandinter says:

Gee, I hope I don’t kill off Charlie in chapter one. That would suck.

      • I dunno, killing off the only Protagonist would somehow be giving the rest of these characters exactly what they deserve…

But Charlie is too awesome to be overcome by something as mundane as a giant steam-powered driller machine.

        • mvandinter says:

Don’t give up on the rest of the characters. If characters are entirely defined by who they are at the beginning of a story, what’s the point of reading to end?

That doesn’t seem like the best place for an inward opening hatch.

    • mvandinter says:

I know. And it gets worse. The whole driller is an engineering disaster.

P.S. Welcome chegitz guevara! Thanks for joining the discussion 🙂

  5. Aslandus says:

A trapdoor on the drill: for when you really need some dirt in your machine…

  6. Lilithmae says:

I’m just surprised she’s still wearing a hat, and shoes for that matter. XD

This totally reminds me of how my friends and I were as kids. We would find an access panel or door to any hidden place and be in there in an instant. I still remember the whipping I got from my dad for getting caught in the attic at church at about Charlie’s age. You see some silly person had placed the access panel in the men’s room ceiling. If only I hadn’t been climbing back down just as one of the church elders was coming into the restroom…

(it figures, my friends had seen him coming, and instead of warning me, they just ditched me and ran)
