Here’s one from the vault! Some readers may not know that Unearth used to deliver twice as much content each week: 1 story page & 1 comic strip.
Amnesia, murder, exploration, travel, any and all DESIRE to get as far from you as possible, for as long as possible. Yes. My mind is filled with “desire” right now.
Ah, I remember the good old days, a story strip on Mondays and a Comic strip on Thursdays, (back when I was just a lurker and not promoted to commenter yet) and I seem to recall that at one time you had to go vote on TWC to get the punchline of the comic – very clever!
And Roddy is actually entirely correct here: thoughts of desiring him would in fact cause madness. Or be caused by madness. Or both.
Perhaps he is an agent of the abyssal moths?
Ah, the pieces of the conspiracy are all falling into place – the abyss moths, the steam goddes cult, the mystyrious unknown saboteur of the drill, Godfrey’s status as a secret time-travelling “00” agent with a mission to thwart the robot takeover of England by Roddy.
It’s all so simple! Why did I not see it before?!
Your ideas are intriguing to me, and I’d like to subscribe to your newsletter…
Comic panel punchlines as voting incentives, advertising, and other promotions were part of a strategy to grow a readership large enough to fund a print run via Kickstarter. The new “Hiatus Strategy” is designed to reduce readership to the size of a Boy Scout troop.
The key to success is in selecting achievable goals! 😀
Also, I just realized I’m hindering your new plan by continuing to read the strip. Sorry about that. 🙁 I’ll try not to read next week, but no promises.
