  1. Custom avatarSole Heir to the Earldom of Farthing says:

    “Somehow”… heh heh heh… 😀

    • Yakumo says:

Pshaw. Only to be expected. Your the cause of this as much as it isn’t self inflicted harm when someone tries to take Sgt Angus hostage in a copper bar in Ahnk-Morpork on a world further out on the probability curve than this one.

      • Thorin Schmidt says:

I think that sentence is also farther out on the probability curve than this current world… 0.o
I managed to understand it though, so I’m not sure I want to speculate what that means about me!

    • Thorin Schmidt says:

meh, if I had a Farthing for every heir gloating about offing their rivals for said Farthing, I’d be in the House of Lords by now….

  2. Yakumo says:

And he does have a point that his death by stabbing is BOTH pointed (or pointy if he prefers) and pointless. At the same time! It is sen without having gone around the world! It’s Schrodinger’s Captain long before the cat (okay, he’s dead either way, but in simultaneous state of pointless and pointed death. Needs some work, what, but that’s the cat one needs to be developed).

  3. Custom avatarwintermute says:

Wow, Roderick is more diabolical that I gave him credit for. That’s just evil.

  4. Custom avatarwintermute says:

Also, how did that hatch get open in the third panel? And how did the crewmember get up there? Was he on a stepladder that fell over?

  5. Aslandus says:

Those two guys in the second panel are trying to figure out whether there is enough water left to brew tea…

  6. Petaybee says:

Is the fact that a very large water tank that has an very large opening in the bottom of it that leads directly to an very enclosed compartment an act of a) design tampering on Roddy’s part, b) evil genius on Philo’s part, c) comedic timing on Mvandinter’s part, or d) how Alice plans on disposing of the bodies?

    • Number 6 says:

The boring machine tunnels down, and when you return to the surface it faces the other way to tunnel up, therefore each tank has to have a hatch on both the top and the bottom so that there will always be a hatch on the top of the tank no matter which way you are boring. Had they been returning, that hatch would have been the one on the floor, thus it is a perfectly valid design. The decision of the crew to open the hatch while it was still an “up” hatch probably just means that Philo should have put a bit more effort into his crew selection process.

      • Aslandus says:

Well, they chose to take a bribe to not inform the head of the expedition that the complex machine had been tampered with, so yes, a better crew would probably be useful…

      • Yakumo says:

And even if that were not true, they’d probably still need an easy means to drain it- for maintenance, remove any particle laden water, or for reasons.

    • Custom avatarwintermute says:

      e) All of the above.
